Seeing two charges from us can be alarming, but in most cases there is a simple explanation. Here are the most common reasons this happens and how to check which one applies to you.
Common reasons for two charges
1. A temporary authorization hold plus the actual charge
When you subscribe or your subscription renews, your bank or card issuer may briefly show a "pending" authorization in addition to the final charge. This is normal card processing behavior, not a double charge. The pending hold usually disappears within a few days and only the real charge remains on your statement.
2. The trial fee plus your first regular billing charge
If you started Pro with the 7-day trial for $1.99, that trial charge is separate from the regular subscription charge that follows once the trial ends. If you didn't cancel before the trial period ended, the subscription automatically continued at $29.99 per month (or the plan you selected), which is a normal renewal, not an error. Together, the $1.99 trial charge and the following renewal charge can look like "two charges" close together.
3. A duplicate account
If you signed up more than once, for example with two different email addresses or with email and Google sign-in as separate accounts, you may have two active subscriptions each generating their own charge. Check whether you have more than one account by trying to sign in with each email you might have used.
How to check what happened
- Go to Settings > Billing in the app.
- Review your billing details and invoices to see the exact charges, dates, and amounts tied to your account.
- Compare these against the charges on your bank or card statement. Charges will appear under a name related to Alvin AI Studio or Chatbotappai, our merchant of record.
- If you suspect a duplicate account, try signing in with any other email or Google account you may have used, and check its Billing page as well.
If the charges still look wrong
Subscriptions are non-refundable in general since Chatbotappai is a digital service you can use immediately, but we may offer a refund or credit at our discretion, for example if you were charged in error or charged twice for the same period. Statutory consumer rights, where they apply, are always preserved. You can read the full policy at chatbotappai.ai/refund.
Still need help? Contact our support team at https://support.chatbotappai.ai with the dates and amounts of the charges in question so we can look into your account.
